All Halllows Guild: Programs

All Hallows Guild is a volunteer organization within the Protestant Episcopal Foundation whose commitment is to the beautification, development and upkeep of the Close of Washington National Cathedral. While it is undoubtedly true that all entities on the Cathedral Close appreciate the beauty of the landscape, AHG is the only organization whose singular mission is its custodianship. To maintain and renew the remarkable 59 acres of the Cathedral close takes funds and expertise. All Hallows Guild, founded in 1916, has been given that mission and raises money in many different ways.

Flower Mart, held the first full weekend in May, Friday & Saturday, is a fabulous two-day family festival that is a large part of these fund-raising efforts and is considered Washington’s Premier Family Festival of Fun and Flowers.

The Herb Cottage is the Guild’s charming all purpose gift shop located next to the Bishop’s Garden. Open every day 10 AM to 5 PM. Phone orders & gift wrapping available. (202) 537-8982.

Tour & Tea Program, a joint effort by All Hallows and Visitor Services, includes a docent-led tour of the Cathedral followed by a delicious catered tea in the Tower every Tuesday and Wednesday. Views of the City are magnificent. Reservations required: (202) 537-8993.

The Olmsted Woods Restoration is a long-term project. Funds are now being energetically raised to restore the five-acre Woods and more than one million dollars has been raised since 1996. Encroachment and overuse have become serious threats to its survival. Please take time to walk the Pilgrim Way, a beautiful new ecologically-sound path that winds from Garfield Street to Pilgrim Road through the Olmsted Woods.

1890s Carousel. Our century-old carousel, now on the National Register of Historic Places, is a favorite of young & old. Restored lovingly each animal is a work of art. Come ride the carousel at Flower Mart!
