Greetings, and welcome to Flower Mart 2010!

In keeping with the tradition of an international theme, Flower Mart this year will honor Ukraine, a richly historical and naturally beautiful country in Eastern Europe.

Dr. Oleh Shamshur, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States has graciously agreed to be our Honorary Chairman. In addition to the hundreds of flower, craft, food and game vendors that will line the Cathedral grounds, the Ukrainian Embassy will have a tent where visitors can sample the rich and colorful culture of Ukraine through pysanka (Ukrainian decorated eggs) demonstrations, food samples, authentic costumes and performances in both Ukrainian song and dance (see Entertainment tab).   There will be a book presentation by the authors Eugene Melnitchenko and Helena Mann-Melnitchenko, book entitled "The Road to Ukraine's Independence".   Also found in the Embassy Tent will be the raffle, where the prize includes a vacation (round-trip airline tickets and hotel accommodations) to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. As in past years, all proceeds benefit the gardens and grounds (all 59 acres!) of the Washington National Cathedral. I hope you will join us on Friday, May 7th and Saturday, May 8th – Rain or Shine!
